Busking for Street Children is about children busking on the streets to raise funds for street children in Ethiopia and other countries.
  • It is about helping street children
  • It is about having fun.
  • It is about raising awareness of life on the streets.
  • It is about getting more instrument practice during the summer holidays!
buskingforstretchildren is a fundraising campaign. We do not want to get involved in setting up a new charity or handling money. For that reason, we have approached a UK charity, Students Supporting Street Kids (SSSK), who have agreed to receive and distribute the funds to the Forum on Street Children Ethiopia (FSCE) in the first year and to the range of street children's charities supported by SSSK in following years.

I (Isla Ratcliff age 11) am from Edinburgh but have been living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the past 2 years. buskingforstreetchildren was inspired by my experience in Edinburgh in Summer 2007 when I managed to raise over £500 in 9hrs of busking over 8 days.

I handed the money over to the
Forum on Street Children Ethiopia (FSCE) on 7 September 2007. Click on Photos menu for a picture.

From 30 June 2008 until 19 August 2008 I will be cycling from Moscow to Edinburgh to raise money through sponsored cycling and by busking in the cities we pass through (Paris, Berlin, Moscow, St Petersburg, Tallinn, Riga, Brussels etc.).
See my blog for further information and if you want to sponsor me, please send me an email letting me know how many pence/£ per 100km.
